Where ever you are-I've got a key
"Are you standing at a crossroad wondering which road you should take?
And you′re dreading the decision and a possible mistake
But the will of God won't lead you where the grace of God can′t keep you
You will never be out of His care.
Remember that the lord's already there
Wherever you are, wherever you're going
God is right there beside you seeing and knowing
Wherever you go, He already knows what lies ahead and what′s behind
You′ll always find He's never too far from wherever you are
You are waiting to hear thunder and see lightening in the sky
Oh, but God can work His wonders through a still small voice inside
Just keep listening and learning and continue on your journey
Following the one who is the way
Oh, He′s the only road you need to take"
I have known the words to this song since I was a teenager, so that is a long time. I did forget them though. For weeks I had sat and cried out to God, begging for a way, for an answer that I felt would never come. As service after service passed by, night after restless night of tossing and wrestling with the tormenting thoughts of defeat and failure, I felt as if I was at the cross roads and either way I went was an assured dead end.
I had a day about a month ago where I felt as if breakthrough was coming and at just the last moment the enemy swooped in to add another lock on the chain, one that there wasn't a key for. I have sat and wrestled over that lock for this month, allowing those defeated thoughts to continue building inside and drawing me further away from where I needed to be. Week after week, pastor would preach the Word as given by the Holy Ghost, the Word He gave to unlock that chain that was holding me, yet out of stubbornness I would sit or stand there stoic as if the Word was not for me.
Sunday as our guest preacher brought the same Word to yet again pull me out of this mire, again I stood there. The word of knowledge given by Sis. Maddie in my ear where only I could hear was the exact words that I was afraid of hearing. He was speaking, I wasn't listening.
I know that many of the things I write revolve around a song I know and I'm sorry for that. I guess it's no wonder God lead me to write "Moved By The Music" when I was in the non-denominational ministry. Music speaks to me. There are three more songs that come to my mind right now. One is by a group that I met when I was in like 11th grade called Out of the Grey. The song was "He is Not Silent". The chorus said "He is not silent, we are not listening. He is not silent we are not listening. He sends a life line. We keep resisting Him. He is not silent we are not listening." When I have cried out and said "God where are You? Why are you not answering me?" It wasn't that He didn't answer, I wasn't listening for His call.
The next one I could have sworn that we sang in my college group at some point but each time I've looked it up it comes up as a country song by Kathy Matea. The only line I could remember from it was "Standing knee deep in a river dying of thirst." That's where I was. I was knee deep in the river of the Holy Ghost but I was dying because I wouldn't drink of the Living Water that was right there for me.
The last one will take me way back and really tell my age but it's the key that ties this all together. I said that one Sunday it was as if the enemy had come in to add a new lock that I didn't have a key to remove. If you are a person of a certain age, you know the show Hee-Haw and the lovely Lulu from the show. Lulu Roman came to First Baptist in Athen in the late 80's for a concert where she sang her new song. "I've got a key to the kingdom. I've got a key to the kingdom. I've got a key to the kingdom and the world can't do me no harm." With the Holy Ghost inside of me, I have the key to the kingdom and the enemy or this world can do me no harm. Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
