Know your worth

The enemy is crafty in the ways in which he attacks God's children, although it's not anything new. In Genesis when he tempted Eve in the garden, the temptation was to her intellect. Genesis 3:1-5, "1Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." He raised the question in her mind if God was being truthful, causing her to question the very heart of who God is. Adam and Eve both had spent time with Him in the garden, walking with Him in the cool of the day. But these two phrases (in bold print) was all it took to sway Eve in her mind and bringing Adam along for the ride.

The trick has not changed. He will speak that little phrase to your intellect, planting a seed for a little doubt to come in. Once that little seed is planted, he quickly moves to water it and cultivate it into other areas. Doubt moves to discouragement, moves to depression, moves to anxiety, moves to self-loathing ever repeating the "I'm not worthy" mantra that has become a part of who we are. Time and time again, the enemy will speak that one little thing, changing the truth just enough to make us question who we are in Christ.

Oh, child of God, rise up! Know who you are in Him. He has counted you worthy when He shed His blood on Calvary for you. He looked way ahead in time and saw YOU in this moment. God knew that these attacks would come, after all He was tempted in the wilderness after He was baptized. The same ways you and I are tempted is the exact ways in which Jesus was tempted. For this reason, He inspired the writers of scripture to include phrases to solidify your identity and worth in Him. Declare them over yourself, post them around your home, put them in your car, know beyond any shadow of doubt what He has said about you.
